Holiday home on the wild coast
Renovation and extension of a holiday home on the wild coast.
This old fisherman's house facing the ocean, perched on its rock and surrounded by the Grosse Terre lighthouse, is located a few meters from the large beach.
This small, low holiday house, typical of local fishermen's houses, has been completely renovated and rehabilitated by the decoration agency COUTUME{STUDIO} (interior decorator in Bordeaux), with the idea of preserving and highlighting his raw and tormented experience.
In order to create volume, bring light and make it breathe again, the spaces have been completely revised, the old supporting walls have been widely opened, an old sandblasted oak door now opens onto a large glass roof facing off the coast.
All of the fittings (kitchen, cupboards, technical room, etc.) have been redesigned and custom designed by the decorators Karine and Frédéric AGUIARD, respecting the idea of retaining the “raw” appearance of this small house. vacation. This initially “narrow” home port is now enhanced by an intimacy that is both architectural and decorative, a harmony between natural or black-stained wood and the colorful and baroque design of concrete tiles. . The raw appearance of the furniture designed from cleaned and sanded wooden planks contrasts with the shiny appearance of the zelliges in the kitchen area.
All of the furniture, essentially "flecked" by the duo, was diverted in response to the desire and request for an exclusive and tailor-made creation of the owners: traps transformed into suspensions, a Napoleon bench stripped of its tassels for seating a new design, sculpted stone objects, white marble coffee tables diverted and adjusted or simple lamps in molded pieces of wood made to measure by COUTUME{STUDIO}.
Or fifty square meters of optimized spaces, coated with a raw and ecological recipe where “wild and natural imperfection” confirms a singular inspiration.
