How to project the ambient classicism, how to reconsider this late 19th century facade, folded in on itself, in order to open it to modernity by infusing it with an air of vacation, and this without betraying its origins. The Gironde estuary in sight, its vegetation immersion, its location a stone's throw from the ocean beaches...
To these contemporary impulses, decorators and atmosphere creators Karine Pelloquin and Fréderic Aguiard of Coutume{Studio} respond with temperance. Anxious to keep the thread of history, the owners, Alexandre and Loren, invite them to install a scenography which will highlight the patina and the experience. The joinery is left as is, the stairwell retains its peeling paint, Karine invents three meter high frescoes painted directly on the original backdrop, recycling the traces of tags left over the years. Old-fashioned silhouettes of queens and kings emerge around the corner of a corridor. Further on, shades of earth and ocher, from the collection of natural paintings imagined by Coutume{Studio} envelop the walls.
