Bold Renovation in Bordeaux by Coutume{Studio}

A 19th-century house transformed into a contemporary gem

Art & Décoration No. 544

Bringing a 19th-century bourgeois house into the 21st century? This was the challenge brilliantly met by the duo of Bordeaux interior designers, Karine Pelloquin and Frédéric Aguiard, founders of Coutume{Studio}. By completely rethinking the volumes and circulation, they managed to combine old architecture, contemporary design, and works of art in a renovation that is as audacious as it is elegant.

After seven months of work, this townhouse in Bordeaux became their first true local "signature project," establishing their name among the most promising designers on the Bordeaux scene, with a distinctive style characterized by refined sobriety and controlled creativity.

Today, a chic country spirit in the heart of the city permeates every room, true to the owners' dream: a warm living space, rooted in history but resolutely forward-looking.
